ABOUT ME

My name is Sophie Stewart and I have just turned 12 years old and I am from Cambridge in the UK.

I have been a regular visitor to Barbados since the age of 2.

I was taught to swim by my brother underwater before I could swim on the surface. I started diving a year ago aged 10 when I passed my PADI with Barbados Blue.

My parents don't dive but my 27 year old sister passed her PADI last year and now I have become the Caribbean's youngest junior master diver using my achievement to raise awareness about the Lionfish.

The Lionfish issue in the Caribbean is very serious and my goal is to help combat lionfish and put them on the menu in hotels and restaurants in Barbados and the Caribbean.

I grew up on a small island and was swimming before I could walk, but when it comes to scuba Sophie has achieved in 1 year what it took me 0ver 20 years to do. Well done lil fish!! Andre Miller M.S.c - Marine Biologist
